Leigh was born and raised in the suburbs of New York, moved fourteen
times to other suburbs, and then finally found her home on five rural
acres in the middle of the woods in Virginia. She earned her B.A.
from Old Dominion University, and she holds a Masters of Fine Arts
in Writing and Literature with a concentration in Fiction from The
Bennington Writing Seminars of Bennington College - a truly remarkable
place. She has just finished a novel, titled Mongrels. Leigh teaches
writing and literature at colleges near her home, and she leads small,
focused workshops out of The Writer's Studio in Virginia Beach. Leigh
writes a column on modern motherhood, which is published in print
and on the web by PortFolio Weekly, where Leigh also writes book reviews,
book-to-movie reviews, and arts articles. In the past, she published
work with PortFolio under the name Leigh Kohnle. |
